Pit fired and Raku Pottery
The pit fired pots are fired with wood and various combustibles, such as seaweed and coffee grounds that create the natural colors.
The designs happen randomly within the pit atmosphere.
The horsehair raku pots are removed from the kiln while still red-hot and horsehair is applied to create the unique black markings. Some of these pieces are fumed with an iron solution to create the varying shades of red to light orange.
Both types of pottery are for decorative use only.
